I have an idea for a new electronic product. But with no relevant background, how do I get started?

I’d like to create and manufacture an electronic product, but I have no experience in technology or business. Is there a way to ask an existing company that manufacturers a similar product to create the one I have in mind, yet still have ownership of the product? Thanks!
