What is the meaning of the symbols that are printed on the back of ipod or any other electronic devices?

Hi guys.
Whenever u turn back a electronic device , we come to see some symbols like C(with a cross in the center) and much more.
Can any one tell what are these symbols?

   its kind like wt u c in clothes, it tells u how 2 handle them, basically its the same except for electronics
