What is more difficult, computer science or electronic engineering? I’m just curious. I want to major in one or the other but to take the path of least resistance. Which one is harder?

I have just passed my A-level in mathematics+physics. I am considering a career in applied mathematics because I love to be challenged by math and would like to figure out ways to use maths in electronics engineering, especially in communications theories. Signals, waves, etc.
But I am not sure that should I become an electronics engineer or go to a PhD in applied mathematics? I am in confusion that if I am not an electronic engineer, how would I be able to solve complex problems in this field? Thanks for giving me some time.
